Peter's iPod Notes from Text (PINT)

[PINT icon]

Download version 1.0 now from http://peterburk.free.fr/pint/PINT.dmg!

Features:
-OPEN SOURCE!
-Splits files into 4kb chunks
-Links between notes, both backwards and forwards.
-Page numbers - something even Text to iPod Notes doesn't have!
-If a file is already less than 4000 characters long (the notes limit), it leaves it as it is, and does not parse it into a folder with one note. I find this a feature, if you do not, then either edit the source code, or email me and I can send you a version that will.

About:
When writing Web iPod Bible Sync, I had to use Markus Averbeck's Text to iPod Notes applescript (see www.averbecks.de). And, because he refused to send me the source, I had to call it, which delayed the program a bit. No big deal, but when I could write my own, I thought it would be better to do so.
So that's what I've done! PINT is an open-source parser for text files, to split them into 4kb chunks to put on your iPod. Yes, some bits of the icon have been nicked from Mozilla, but I hope you don't mind. It looks good, don't you think?

Updates to come in future revisions:
- If there is enough demand, support for .RTF and .DOC files will be added sometime.
- Unfortunately, if it has already been run, it deletes the previous "### Book" folder, it doesn't add "2" on the end, if you see what I mean. However, I don't know how to do this, so if anyone can email me a copy of an edited version (or even just an explanation of how to do so), please do!

Bug reports/comments/etc:
Please email me at peterburk a-t gmail d-o-t com if you discover any bugs, or have any comments or suggestions on how to improve PINT. Even if you just want to say how you're using it, still email me, I'm interested!

Disclaimer:
This program was written with best of intentions, not (completely) to steal all the market from Text to iPod Notes, but to have some healthy competition. It is intended for people who want to integrate it into their applescript software, and for those who want page numbers, or trust open source better.
